Adding your finds to the Archaeological record:
Did you know that not only can you get enjoyment from the items you find, but you can also share it with others both locally and nationally. When the government replaced the antiquated Treasure Trove laws with the new Treasure Act they also set up a brand new body in England to help any member of the public making any 'old' finds, be it by chance in your back garden or out in the field detecting. This new body, the Portable Antiquities Scheme, or PAS, is there to help you in many ways, from helping to identify your finds to advising you in possible cases of 'Treasure'. There are specific laws governing the reporting of finds that are classed as 'Treasure' (we are more than happy to advise you of your obligations, if you are unsure if one of your finds is treasure or not), however the vast majority of finds fall outside of being classified as treasure and, instead of consigning these items to a display case or drawer, you can actually record them with the PAS, thereby adding to the local (and national) archaeological record. This is all voluntary and once recorded, you get the item back with all the information about it. Through this voluntary service, metal detectorists have added a wealth of previously unknown information to the archaeological record, in some cases changing what was previously thought and known about our ancestors and the way they lived.
The PAS has a representative in most counties of England, known as Finds Liaison Officers, they hold regular 'surgeries' normally at the county museum where the public can pop along and talk to them.

Free Delivery applies to many parts of the Mainland UK only (see below for exclusions).
Free express courier delivery is for a secure, signed for 24 hour courier service.
Express delivery option is only available for those parts of the UK that do NOT incur a delivery surcharge.
Deliveries to these areas with a surcharge are up to 48 hours.
The areas below are subject to the following surcharges:
Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Isle of Scilly, Shetland and Orkney - £17.50
Channel Islands - £27.00
UK Highlands - £16.00
Northern Ireland £17.50
Saturday deliveries are classed as a premium service and incur a £20.00 delivery surcharge. Please note that Saturday deliveries cannot be booked on the Friday to UK Highlands and Island destinations.
Please note that as we use a secure, signed for courier service, someone will need to be present to sign for delivery. We are unable to pass on instructions to leave with neighbour or secure place.
If a mobile number is provided at the time of order, our couriers will text you the estimated delivery time of your order allowing you time to ensure that either you are present to take receipt of the order, or to call the couriers to rearrange for a more suitable day. If no one is in when delivery is attempted then a card will be left with information on how to rearrange your delivery.
(Cards cannot be left in properties without their own main entrance, or where entrance us restricted, for example, apartments, locked, gated property etc)
We can deliver to any European country but the delivery costs will vary. Please contact us to arrange a quote for a European delivery. We do not deliver outside of the EU.
Expected Dispatch and Delivery Times
24 hour courier service delivery applies to orders where payment is received by us before 14.30. Payment received after this time will mean that the parcel will be sent out on the next following working day. Orders received on a Friday will be dispatched for delivery on the following Monday with the exception of Bank Holiday Mondays. 24 hour deliveries is not guaranteed service, if the item is required before a specific date, please allow for any unanticipated delays. If your order does not arrive when expected, please contact us and we will be able to resolve any delivery problems.
Please note, We are unable to deliver to an alternative address, deliveries can only be made to confirmed PayPal addresses.
Because we use a signed for, insured courier service we are unfortunately unable to send to BFPO or P.O. Box addresses. We are also unable to send outside of the EU. We are also unable to deliver to parcel forwarding or holding facilities.
Most accessories and books are sent by Royal Mail First Class service. Orders for postage received before 1pm will be despatched the same day.
